It seems Blizzard is considering not allowing flying until 6.1 and there is a hot discussion about it on EJ forums.
What do you think?
My opinion is it should be unlocked not by reaching max level but with a quest chain or achievement. If I was a dev, I would probably link it to exploration achievement since the idea behind is to keep people grounded until they explore the new continent thoroughly.
I actually like the idea of not flying for a certain time in the new continent and I am totally against the idea of handing down flying to everyone with no effort and just gold. Why not a long quest line with some challenges at the end of the first patch, indeed?
When there were attunements and quest lines that rewards players with useful stuff back then(like warlock/druid mount/flght form) quests there were more subscriptions than now. So don't know why Blizzard wants to cater extreme casuals instead. Let's see how this one will go. I really wonder..
One more note about this.
If it happens and the period without flying is pretty long, the gathered goods will probably have heavily inflated prices. So prepare to level your gatherer alts asap. We will probably need people farming mats for feasts, flasks etc.
This might effect our progress so need to keep an eye on.
On the other hand, first raid instance will not be open for some time and probably will be available with the same patch that enables flying in Draenor.
About gathering professions. Now you can have a herb garden in your Garrison and a mine next to your garrison, which your followers can mine and herb for you. They even let you make flasks, gems etc even if you are not an alchemist, jewelcrafter etc.
The non flying will be a temporary thing and I am pretty sure it will be a patch or so about a month or two maybe even more as we have portals to places from your personal garrison and outposts on every zone. Raids will start 2.5 weeks after the release of WoD.
Here is the schedule from an interview of a Blizzard Employee on manaflask:
Raids will not open for about two and a half weeks
Normal and Heroic High Maul after two and a half weeks - 3rd December 2014 in the EU
Mythic and LFR High Maul a week later - 10th December in the EU
Several weeks later the second raid will open
Grommash has been the end boss since BlizzCon - the Grommash fight is completely different to the Garrosh fight. There will definitely be more than just Orcs.
It's likely there will be other legendaries available outside the main ring questline - but these are not finalized yet.
- Challenge Mode Golds will reward weapons, and Challenge Modes will drop LFR-level loot. Players can gear up with this loot before the raids are even released.
So from the looks of it. We gotta clear as much as possible on 3rd of December week from heroics to get gear for Mythic raiding. And start world bosses, challenge modes for LFR leverl loot right away when we are 100, cross realm if needed.
